Macher Jhol (Bengali Fish Curry)

Ingredients
- 500 g Rohu fish pieces
- 2 piece Potato (cubed)
- 1 piece Onion (sliced)
- 1 piece Tomato (chopped)
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 0.5 tsp Red chili powder
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 3 tbsp Mustard oil
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 piece Green chili
- 2 cup Water

Marinate fish with turmeric and salt for 10 minutes.

Heat mustard oil in a pan. Fry fish pieces until golden. Set aside.

In the same oil, add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add sliced onions and fry until golden.

Add turmeric, chili powder, and chopped tomatoes. Cook for 3 minutes.

Add cubed potatoes and water. Cook until potatoes are tender, about 12 minutes.

Gently add the fried fish. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Add green chilies. Serve hot with steamed rice.
Notes
Use rohu or katla fish for authentic flavor.
💡 Tips
Do not stir too much after adding fish to avoid breaking pieces.
